Cloves are the aromatic flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae, Syzygium, and Aromaticum. Indonesia is the largest producer of cloves, followed by Madagascar, Zanzibar, India and Sri Lanka. India is known to produce large quantities of cloves.
Clove is widely used for food flavouring and aroma in a variety of cuisines, used in confectionery and other products. It is also used for personal hygiene product, perfumery products etc. Cloves are used for treating a number of health conditions such as malaria, cholera, and scabies in the tropical Asian countries.
